Supporting and Advancing the Field of Teaching Artistry

Teaching Artists Connect

What do we do?

Teaching Artists Connect provides creative, experiential professional development workshops and intensives for teaching artists, educators, and administrators of all disciplines that inspire and uplift participants.

What is a teaching artist?

A teaching artist is a practicing professional artist who uses their art form to engage learners, make connections with the world, and support the creation of meaningful arts experiences in a variety of educational and community settings.

Why do we need them?

  • Practicing artists see the world through the lens of creation, bringing a unique perspective to schools and community organizations.
  • Teaching artists facilitate engaging aesthetic experiences that activate the artistry of participants and provide opportunities for creative problem solving.
  • Engagement in the arts builds empathy, creates connections, and fosters collaboration.
  • Teaching artists work with communities, organizations, prisons, schools, and healthcare agencies to build social engagement and offer joyful and unifying arts experiences.
  • The arts engage learners in a variety of 21st century skills such as creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.

"TAC-NC is exactly what the field of teaching artistry needs. Its founders are masters who can provide the highest quality introduction, initiation, and training anywhere. I know their work well, and urge you to run, not walk, to bring them in."
Eric Booth, Author, founder of the International Teaching Artist Collaborative, and commonly referred to as "the father of the teaching artist profession."
