In early October 2023, Heather and Gowri spent half a day with the A+ Fellows of North Carolina, facilitating a workshop on Accessible Practices at the beautiful UNC School of Art campus in Winston Salem.
Over 2.5 hours, we talked about language and disability history, explored strategies for accessible arts in education programming, and made connections to our own practice through creative engagement. Images show: 1. A group of people create gestures and movements to reflect the theme of positive changes you want to see in your community. 2. Three people sit around a table and create an artwork together on the same piece of paper using paint, markers, sponge brushes, and tools. One person plays with a fidget toy. 3. An artwork created during the session with purple and red paint lines, yellow sponge dots, and the words, 'Choices for All'.
