At Arts Access, we're always working to connect with arts-minded folks who value inclusion. With TAC-NC, we have discovered an incredible partner for providing engaging and meaningful professional development. Heather and Gowri have proven time after time to be proactive, communicative, and inclusive in every aspect of their work. Their workshops aren't a checklist of what to do or not to do, they really make sure to spend time crafting hands-on activities that allow participants to understand and process how the professional development uniquely applies to their own work. I would highly recommend TAC-NC's workshops and intensives for anyone involved in teaching artistry, arts education, or community arts. |
The workshop I attended today [Integrating the Arts in Early Childhood Education] has been transformative in helping me envision how to link my musical performance to literature, movement, visual art, and children's social emotional growth. I am finding the focus I have been searching for, with tools which I can use in my teaching, not least of which being imagination and the challenge to monitor the feelings I have myself, learning and playing -- moving and drawing in the workshop.

For GowriGowri Savoor's work is rooted in the many ways we, as human beings, cross physical and metaphorical borders and in the ways we migrate from place to place, from idea to idea. When she leads a professional development experience for teachers it is heartfelt, beautiful, and profound. If you are hoping to introduce project-based learning to your school; if you wish the arts were integrated across all classrooms; if your desire is to create a sublime community-building experience for your teachers, Gowri will exceed all of your expectations. One of the most serendipitous - and stupendous - experiences of my teaching career has been working with Gowri Savoor and a small team of colleagues to co-design an imaginative, expansive, and creative learning unit for our students. Gowri's ability to ask the right questions, to design unique activities, to transfer our fantastical ideas into action and deeply engaging learning opportunities, all the while remaining joyful and heart-centered, remains unparalleled. I would drop everything I was doing for the opportunity to work closely with Gowri again. She's not only an exceptional teaching artist, but she is an inspirational artist, inquisitive thinker, and compassionate human being. I have worked with Gowri in many capacities and can attest that she brings light, depth and joy wherever she teaches. She builds community through creativity with people of all ages and walks of life, and her impact is felt long after a project is complete. Gowri is an inspiring artist and conscientious collaborator who helps organize cohesive creative experiences that remain in your heart for life. |
